November 28 & 29 : Kaisika Ekadashi at Thirukurungudi

This is a very interesting festival. At the night of Kaisika Ekadashi, a drama on life of Sri Kaisika is enacted in the temple premises. After the drama, ghosti takes place. This is followed by more celebrations. In between a lot of people sleep/take rest in the temple itself. It’s a nice experience to see this festival.

It’s Thirukurungudi Perumal took birth as Swami Nammalwar. Thirukurungudi is one amongst the 108 Divyadesams. It is a 2 hours drive from Alwarthirunagari.

      The utsavams are celebrated during the Visakam Thirunakshatram of Vaikasi month. This is around June, July. At the moment I do not know the correct date of the utsavam though. The last day os the utsavam is the Vaikasi Visakam day.
