    Namaskaram,

As june 5th is Namalwar thirunakshatram falls on june 5th. kindly send me details like where, when, what are all this alwars pasurams. Any temple for this alwar in india.

    thank you.

    ————————————–

    Sri Kavita,

Swami Namalwar is considered the greatest of Alwars. Thiruvaimozhi is a very famous work of Swami Namalwar which is nothing but pure essence of the Vedas themselves. Alwarthirunagari is the birthplace of Alwar, and there is a temple for here for Namalwar. Also every Sri Vaishnava temple will have a sannidhi or atleast a deity of Nammalwar. The thirunakshatram of Namalwar is celebrated as the 10 day festival of Vaikasi Visakam at Alwarthirunagari, about which you can read in this blog itself.

Also one interesting fact about Nammalwar is that, when all other Alwars went to variuos Divyadesams to sing on the Perumals, for Namalwar all the Divyadesa Perumals would themselves come before Alwar, and ask Alwar to sing on them. Namalwar never went anywhere in his life, but has sang on a lot of Divyadesams.

    Adiyean

Jai Srimannarayana. I wanted to know whether srimanarayana and sri krsna are non different, because the gaudiya vaisnavas claim that sri krsna is the origin of srimanarayana and there are millions of visnus(brahma samhita quotes “visnur mahan sa iha yaysa kala viseso, govindam adipurusam tamaham bhajami). And also I wanted to know whether radha existed and that many scriptures quote her position superior to mahalaxmi. And the gaudiyas claim that krsna lives in goloka , the highest among millions of vaikuntas( goloke eva nivasati akhilatma bhutah , govindam….) please reply.

    Sri Aditya,

Sri Krishna (and Sri Rama) is an Avatar of Sriman Narayana. Sri Krishna is not the origin of Sriman Narayana. Brahma & Siva have a particular life time after which a new Brahma & Siva take their place. The final destination of every Atma (including Brahma & Siva) is Sri Vaikuntam & Sriman Narayana. I have not heard of the concept of millions of Sri Vaikuntas. With regards to existence of Sri Radha, Velukkudi Swamy once said in a discourse that there is no reference of Radha in our literatures.

    Adiyean.

Jai srimannarayana. could your grace please quote some references to prove that sri krisna is an avatara srihari? And my question was nat about the position of brahma or siva but the position of visnu w.r.t. srikrsna.[(brahma samhita quotes “visnur mahan sa iha yaysa kala viseso, govindam adipurusam tamaham bhajami)
the gaudiyas claim that krsna lives in goloka , the highest among millions of vaikuntas( goloke eva nivasati akhilatma bhutah , govindam….)] And as far as radha is concerned the madhva gaudiya vaisnava, the vallabha and nimbaraka sampradayas, the vayu and padma puranas prove her existence. Sri chaitanya Mahaprabhu who is an avatara of sriHari Himself preached about the existence of Sri Radha and the originality of sri krsna.

      Sri Aditya,
Every yuga, the Lord Sriman Narayana descends down to earth to save His devotees from evil and ignorance, Sri Rama for Tretha Yuga and Sri Krishna for Dwapara yuga. In Sri Vaishnavam, the 10 Avatars do not include Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Also I have never heard of millions of Sri Vaikuntam. What I said about Sri Radha was what I heard from Velukkudi Swami’s discourse.

You have quoted references from variuos puranas, but the undeniable fact is that, the Vedas and all our ancient scriptures say things in a complicated way and are beyond our understanding with the little knowledge we have. We cant just read the puranas and comprehend the meaning ourselves. This is the reason why many people misunderstand and claim that Shiva is the foremost of Gods.

Does that mean that the authority of sri chaitanya, the nimbarka and vallabhacharya sampradayams can be condemned? Are these vaisnava sampradayams not authentic?

    Prabhu,

Defenitely not like that ji. Its a simple matter of how each faith has a preacher. For Gaudiya Vaisnavas it is Sri Chaitanya and others, while in Sri Vaishnavam it is the Alwars & Acharyas. But the core principle of all Vaishnavams is that Sriman Narayana is the Ultimate Lord and He is the only one who can free us from this materialistic world.

    Adiyean.

Jai srimanarayana.Thank you for your nice answers. My friend is agaudiya vaisnava. He says chanting the Hare Krsna Mahamantra is the only way for moksha in kaliyugaas told in Kali santarana upanishad. But I am a srivaisnava. Can I chant the mantra without my guru Sri Sri rangapriya’s permission?

    Prabhu,
Chanting the name of the Lord is very much a way to attain moksha. But we should have Devotion & Love towards Him. Beyond all Saranagathi (complete surrender) to Him is very important to attain Mokhsa.
You can very well chant the Sri Krishna Mahamantra. There is no qualification required to chant the Lord’s name.

My spiritual master Sri Sri rangapriya Mahadesikan has confirmed with me the existence of goloka where pastimes of krsna takes place. Here radha also exists. But did any other srivaisnava acharyas quote so?

    —-
    Sri Aditya,

As far as I know, none of the Sri Vaishnava acharyas have mentioned about Goloka. Vaishnavism is based on numerous ancient vedic texts and each faith interprets it one way or the other and so minor differences bound to occur. But the basic core of all Vaishnavisms is that Sriman Naryanana is the Supreme Lord and the only one who can give us Moksha.

GOLOKA NAMNI NIJA DHAMNI THALE CHA TASYA…..”
“GOLOKE EVA NIVASATI AKHILATMA BHUTAH,GOVINDAM ADIPURUSAM TAMAHAM BHAJAMI”.The VISHNUDHARMOTTARIYA says
“SA KRSNO HARIRNIVASATI YATRAH GAM CHARANTHI”.And it is to be noted that SriVaikuntam and Golokam are the same.
Dasya Shesha-Sheshi bhava is absent in Golokam, while in
Vaikuntham Parakiya Madhurya Rasa is absent. Those who surrender to Krsna-Rukmini alone reach Golokam while those who consider Lakshmi-Narayana attain Vaikuntham.
THESE WORDS ARE FROM “BRAMHA SAMHITA”,A PANCARATRAGAMA CONSIDERED TO BELONG TO SRIVAISNAVA LITERATURE.

Firstly I would like to apologise for the delayed reply. Regarding to your question, with the little knowledge I have, I suppose you have said correctly Swami Ramanujar’s words from the Thirukostiyur temple gopuram. Swami Ramanuja said the meaning of the divine Thirumantra to all interested people, regardless of Caste, Creed or Gender from the Gopuram of Thirukostiyur temple. He did this despite his Acharya, Thirukostiyur Nambhi’s warning that, the meaning should not be revealed to others. Swami Ramanuja still said the meaning to the people, so that though he migh go to Hell, hundreds of humble people would go to heaven. An animated video of the incident can be found in YouTube – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzJFePDJ7Q4
