Alwarthirunagari Vaikasi Visakam Garuda Seva Photos (Part 1)

Sriman Narayana & Swami Nammalwar once again blessed me with an opportunity to witness the grand Alwarthirunagari Vaikasi Visakam. I always wanted to shoot the 10-day event in High Resolution & good aesthetic quality. This year, I was blessed with a good DSLR camera and I did the best the shoot the Garuda Seva day in all its Glory. Due to materialistic commitments I wasn’t able to witness all the 10 days, and I had to be content with just shooting the Garuda Seva day. This first part has the snaps taken in the Garuda Seva day, when the Perumals of NavaThirupathi Divyadesams are welcomed by Swami Nammalwar. The second part (to be posted soon) will have the Garuda  Seva that takes place at the night.

The very purpose of shooting the event is to share the Photos with all the people. Anyone who would like to have the High Resolution originals can always e-mail me ( or Leave a Comment indicating your requirement.

108 Divyadesams and the Paasurams

Its well known that the temples visited and sung by Alwars are known as Divyadesams. But not all of us are blessed enough to know all the Paasurams sung on a particular Divyadesam. And, as if like a perfect answer to this a Sri Vaishnava, Sri Thirukkudanthai Jegennaathan swAmi has posted in his blog about Divyadesams and Paasurams sung on them. Swami has written on 32 Divyadesams as of now. Soon, we might have the info for all the 108 Divyadesams. Also all the posts are in PDF format, so you can download and keep it for future reference. Swami’s blog can be seen here – (Yea 🙂 hosted by

Here is a PDF of First Divyadesam, Srirangam and paasurams on it. More Divyadesam PDFs can be found in the blog.

Another gem of a Sri Vaishnava site. Something really close to the ideal Sri Vaishnava home in the Virtual World. has lots of content including a Learning Section on Sri Vaishnavam, along with the usual categories of Audio, Video and Books. But the most interesting & appreciable feature is the Social Networking feature of the site. You can join as member in the site, create your own blog and interact with other members too. Probably it is the only Sri Vaishnava site offering robust Social Networking features. Members include Sri Velukkudi Swami & Sri AnanthapadmanbaChary swamy themselves (a little difficult to believe though).

Sri Vaishnava Calendar :  Unfortunately inspite of many Sri Vaishnava sites that are available, Sri Vaishnava Calendars in many sites aren’t updated regularly (Our blog is no exception too. We regret it.). But the calendar in is regularly updated and contains dates for major Srivaishnava events such as Perumal, Alwars, and Acharyas thirunakshatrams and other important festivals celebrated by Srivaishnavas.

Visit the site and you are most likely to find lots of really useful information and links. – A valuable site on Sri Vaishnavam

Recently we had a post on Sri Ahobila Mutt, following which now we have a little post on their website – One look and anyone can say that the site is regularly updated, has lot of information and yet, very neatly designed and put together. The site is the best place for those looking for some basic information about the Mutt as well as for those ardently following their Acharya {Azhagiya Singar} and the Mutt. The home page is updated with the latest happenings at the Mutt and the sancharams / journeys of Jeeyar Swamy {Azhagiya Singar}.

Apart from news & information about the Ahobila Matam, the site also has a library of articles of the mutt & many Sri Vaishnava audio & text downloads. Text downloads include the 4000 Divya Prabhandams, Sri Ramanujars’ Sriranga Gadyam, Sri Vaikunta Gadyam, Saranagathi Gadyam and Alavandar’s Chatussloki and Sthothrarathnam. Ahobila Mutts’ publications can also be ordered through the site bookstore. There is also a Quiz page where you can test your Sri Vaishnava knowledge, selecting from the Basic, Intermediary, Advanced levels. Ekadashi & Amavasya calculators for the western visitors. The site also offers a Matrimonial service for Sri Vaishnavas.
